Things to do in Vanuatu
A magical tropical island in the South Pacific - Vanuatu offers tourists a relaxing escape!
Discover some of the things you can do in Vanuatu:
1. Port Vila - Vila Chaumieres, Vanuatu accommodation
A unique resort offering restaurant services with fantastic cuisine!
2. Visit Espiritu Santo
Commonly known as Santo, Espiritu Santo is Vanuatu's largest island - a mountainous landscape cloaked in lush rainforest that is home to colourful butterflies, tropical birds and lovely orchids. The island is known for its war relics and superb dive sites, including the famous wreck of the SS Coolidge.
3. Snorkelling
Snorkelling conditions are ideal for viewing the coral reefs and abundant marine life in Vanuatu's coastal waters.
4. Volcanoes
Mount Yasur Volcano on Tanna is a popular excursion. Although constantly active, visitors are able to walk to the crater rim and view the multiple vents. Night visits are particularly spectacular when fountains of erupting ash and rock glow bright red against the black sky. Ambrym's volcanic vents, Benbow and Marum, provide an awesome scenic attraction located amidst a surreal ash plain.
5. Diving
Vanuatu has some of the most accessible dive sites in the South Pacific and excellent visibility year round. The warm waters harbour coral reefs, shipwrecks (including the sunken passenger liner the President Coolidge in Espiritu Santo Harbour), drop-offs and caves. Several dive companies operate in Vanuatu offering a range of diving options.

Port Vila, Vila Chaumieres, Customer Reviews
Reviewed March 13, 2012
If you want a stress free environment, faultless service given with the broadest smiles, and two hosts who only want to help you in any way they can, then Vila Chaumieres is for you.
It is famed for its restaurant sitting on the lagoon and rightly so. The food and service are to die for and the atmosphere of the open sided thatched roofed area is absolutely enchanting. This is where breakfast is served, too, so it's a great way to start the day. As others have remarked, there's no tv, but the wi-fi internet is very reliable and books and board games can be borrowed. The swimming pool is new and is surprisingly cool, while the lagoon is inviting and refreshing (buy a pair of cheap, $15 reef shoes to protect your feet and mind the star fish!).We stayed in a lagoon room, large, comfortable and with a huge balcony complete with table, chairs and two cane lounge chairs.
Although about 4 miles out of Port Vila this really is no handicap because of the quite amazing “bus” services. Any people carrier with a number plate that starts with “B” is a bus, and there are seemingly hundreds of them. The fare is 150VT (about A$1.65) and that is for anywhere in the area of Port Vila. Stand on the side of the road and hold out an arm, and a “Bus” soon appears with or without other passengers – tell the driver where you want to go and hop in!
The travel help started even before we arrived, as our hosts organised efficient airport tranfers for us; their advice on other places to visit was spot-on, too, and not always the usual stuff of travel sites - so after a week there we came away considerably more relaxed and with a much better idea of life on Vanuatu.

We stayed a couple of nights in a bungalow. Great sized room, beautifully presented, very quiet and comfortable. No TV but we didn't miss one either!
The hosts here are wonderful, they are incredibly friendly without being intrusive and provided us with great information.
The restaurant is perfectly positioned on the lagoon and ranks up with the better places we found to eat in and around Port Vila.
Overall a great relaxing stay, the pool is now very usable while the landscaping continues, I would not be surprised if it is completed already to the same immaculate standard as the gardens were.
