“Great spot to relax and eat well” 4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago via mobile My friend and I stayed for 8 nights at the end of October this year and, while it wasn't what we were expecting (mind you, Vanuatu itself was not what we were expecting), we had a fabulous time and the hosts, Richard and Ursula were lovely. The restaurant was great, a little expensive and just about Australian prices, but this was pretty much the norm for most other restaurants as well. We had the lobster, chicken curry, vegetarian curry, Tahitian fish salad and, my absolute fave, the beef Wellington. It was amazing. The desserts are also fabulous - can't say enough good things about the coconut ice cream. The restaurant itself is over the water at the lagoon's edge so is outdoors, ie DEET up before you arrive of an evening.

There weren't too many mozzies about although that could just just been as we were bathing in insect spray. I just read another review complaining about not getting fresh fruit for breakfast. Maybe something happened on that day as for our entire stay we had a great selection of really fresh fruit, bananas, grapefruit (Vanuatu has the best tasting pamplemousse - French for grapefruit - I've ever tasted) coconut, papaya, and raspberries, etc served up each morning with a basket of with either toasted bread, baguettes and croissants with a yummy jam served wIth good coffee and an orange juice (this tasted like a concentrate). The room - a garden one near the pool - has everything you'd need, including a small fridge (with a welcome drink in there on arrival) coffee and tea making facilities, separate bathroom and air conditioner (half of a gecko spat out of ours the first time we turned it on but hey, it's the tropics and it worked afterwards. The second bed (a sofa bed) was not very comfortable but Ursula arranged for a regular mattress and that was much better. It's really easy to get to port Vila which is about 3km away via the fantastic bus system (stand on the street and wait for a mini van/people mover with a "B" on the licence plate to go buy, signal them, ask to go the the centre and agree a price - approx 300 vatu each. You get to see a bit of the area, it's really cheap and quick and you don't have to worry about driving on the wrong side of the road). All up, it was a great spot with only 6 rooms, so you're not surrounded by people but there's enough to not feel isolated. And free wifi only in the public areas. “Worth every penny!”

I stayed at Vila Chaumiers a few weeks back for a total of 7 nights and was not disappointed with what I had heard about/read in other reviews prior to booking my stay. There were 4 of us and we stayed in 2 bungalows at the resort. The place only has 5 rooms for 10 people I think, but this did not effect our stay at all.

It was a small resort, but this made things much better in terms of the atmosphere, getting to know the staff, some of the locals; all of whom we found very friendly and helpful.

The location was great as we had a 15 minute taxi from the airport for the equivalent of 5 dollars each. Getting to and from town was even less at about 10 minutes and the resort seemed to know enough people through their staff to find a ride in a matter of minutes.

Food was fantastic, fresh and I highly recommend the Fishermans Feast. Its main feature is the Coconut Crab which as far as I know only comes from Vanuatu, so definitely worth sharing for a couple as it was a huge portion for even two people.

Organising tours was easy as well. Many of our trips came from friends of the resort and this made our trip much easier to plan and we would recommend any and all of them. The bushwalk being the highlight.

All around a great place to stay. Very clean, helpful and friendly staff and if ever I head back to Vanuatu definitely a sure stop again.

We were enjoying our stay in Pt Vila and in the lovely garden room at Vila Chaumieres when my wife had the misfortune to slip while walking in town and to break her arm. Stayed in a room with a delightful balcony overlooking the lagoon. We went for complete rest and relaxation so armed with a few books we were more than happy to sit and look out at the water. Eton Beach, Vanuatu, Vila Chaumieres Resort

Eton Beach. Eton Beach is a little further on after Turtle Bay resort - there is a barbecue hut and good toilet and changing facilities. The beach is small and sheltered, with a freshwater spring running onto the ocean, and you can snorkel, swim, or fish off the breakwater. Entry is 300vt pp, which goes to the people of Eton Village to help maintain the beach. After swimming at Eton Beach we recommend to stop and enjoy lunch at Wahoo bar.

Mount Yasur, on the Southern Vanuatu Island of Tanna, is probably the archipelago's most iconic landmark and the most accessible, active volcano in the world.  This stunning Vanuatu volcano is 361 meters above sea level and the crater itself is 300 meters wide and 100 meters deep. Visitors can be driven to within 150 meters of the crater's edge and even walk around the entire perimeter, though you should remember to bring sunscreen and hats if you choose to do so in the heat of the day.

“Location, setting and atmosphere !”

Richard and Ursula were the perfect hosts, being our first time to Vanuatu we we're extremely happy to have come across such a lovely place. They were more than happy to recommend and organise the best attractions Vanuatu had to offer.
The staff were very friendly nothing was a problem for any of them ( especially a young lady Pauline ).
The food was delicious and was always presented lovely, ( the crab is as tasty as they say) the complimentry breakfast was an added bonus.
Our room was spacious and very private, and our bed very comfortable.
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, gorgeous food, hassle free accommodation then look no further Vila Chaumieres is the place to stay.

It's a very nice, small, quiet hotel not too far away from town. The room we stayed in overlooked the lagoon and was cosy. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. The best part was their food! The seafood platter is a must-try!

What a gem! Stayed 3 weeks during Feb/March and could not have been happier. Fabulous location on the lagoon, delicious food, great accommodation. Hosts Ursula and Richard and their friendly staff helped us arrange transport, organise a picnic and readily catered to our vegetarian palates. The complimentary breakfast consisted of a varied selection of fresh fruits which we occasionally supplemented with croissants and jam. The stunning location and quality of food and service meant that the award-winning restaurant was well-patronised by visitors and locals at night. Accommodation exceeded our expectations, with the garden bungalows both spacious and private. Having stayed at the much larger resorts of Le Lagon and Iririki in previous years, Vila Chaumieres wins hands down.
