Quiet and Peaceful, Vanuatu Resort
“Quiet peaceful getaway”
Reviewed November 11, 2012
The best room is number 5 which is the lagoon view room on top of reception. We stayed in number 6 which is the room next door with view of lagoon but not as panoramic as room 5 but still a good view. The owners were away and unfortunately the wifi played up during our stay despite the site manager doing her best to fix it. Made it a bit inconvenient as we were relying on trip advisor to plan our days. The breakfast was great and the fruit varied everyday. The hot breakfasts were great especially the omelette. The pool was a great refresher after being out for the day. The restaurant is picturesque and we enjoyed one meal there. We like to try somewhere different every night. The only problem I had with the room was the pillow, it was hard and flat. I missed my soft latex pillow. Could probably write more but have to go. If something else comes to mind will write another review.
Room Tip: Room 5 for view

Peaceful and Relaxing holiday in Vanuatu
“Peace and Tranquility”
Reviewed December 14, 2012
We have just spend a wonderful week there, Richard & Ursula are superb hosts so welcoming & helpful, the staff are just delightful quiet & unobtrusive but always there when needed. The beauty of this boutique hotel is that it caters for Adults so no children and that they only have 3 bungalows & 2 apartments. The complex is set in a lush tropical garden and has a small swimming pool as well. Breakfast is quite refreshing with fruit platter, hot sweet roll, toast & coffee, it is great to sit & feed the fish brekkie crumbs. The meals are very well presented and delicious, (you must try the Coconut Crab, took my husband 40mins to eat) though the meals were a little pricey. We highly recommend staying here as it is close to Port Vila, just flag a bus at the gate to wherever you want to go..
Room Tip: Bungalow 4 is right next to the pool very handy for a morning dip.

Port Vila Resort
Beautiful view at Vila Chaumieres, Port Vila Vanuatu
“Total Relaxation”
Reviewed December 26, 2012
Vila Chaumieres is located about 4 kilometres outside the town of Port Vila, idyllically set on the stretch of water between the main and second lagoons. It is so peaceful and calm, you totally relax as soon as you walk into your room, we stayed in Room 5 which has by far the best views out over the water. The peace and calm is sometimes broken late in the afternoon, by the sound of local children playing in the water, but it is not intrusive, the sound of laughter is a pleasure to hear and is not punctuated with bad language as is so often heard here in Australia. Our hosts Ursula and Richard could just not do enough for us, they are the ultimate hosts, always there, but never intrusive, always open for a chat and to suggest places of interest to visit. We had a problem with the water heater, so we had no hot water on the third day of our seven day visit; which just happened to be a Sunday, this was not problem to Richard who organised to get a contractor in straight away, and we were also offered the opportunity to shower in an unoccupied room whilst the problem was rectified, we had hot water again the next morning. The restaurant at Vila Chaumieres is superb to say the least; the menu has plenty of quality choices and caters to all tastes. The food prices are very comparable to Australian prices and I considered the meals excellent value for money. The local beef eye fillet is exceptional at about $32.00, it was cooked to perfection and as ordered, the vegetable accompaniment was also superbly cooked; I have not had vegetables so perfectly cooked in a restaurant in a long time. We ate at the restaurant every night of our seven night stay as it was such a pleasure to dine there, the staff are excellent, attentive, yet not intrusive. If you do eat at the restaurant, a must have is the “seafood feast”, it’s enough for two people and is just divine, the seafood is just so fresh and tasty and very well presented.
Overall Vila Chaumieres is the perfect getaway location, it’s not too far out of town and a ride on a local bus at Vat150 per person is the ideal way to travel, don’t be scared it’s a great experience. I would highly recommend Vila Chaumieres to anyone; we will be back for another visit in 2013. Thanks very much for a wonderful experience Ursula and Richard..........
